Keith Urban released his new album, High, back on September 20, marking his first release in nearly four years. Urban recorded an album featuring darker, more reflective numbers a year and a half ago, but he scrapped the project, titled 615, and started working on what would eventually become High. “The end result was 13 songs that sounded like they stayed in one place the whole time,” Urban says of the abandoned 615 record, though the country star salvaged four songs from those earlier sessions on his new album. “If you put those four songs together, you would go, ‘Oh yeah,  those are great— but I don’t know if I want 13 songs all like this,’” Urban reflects. “So it was a failed attempt at changing the way I make records. And what I learned was, I just make ‘em the way I make ‘em. It was just writing an album of the ups and downs and highs and lows and all that energy mix that I wanted on an album.” (Variety)
